A series of fun, straight-forward strategy games. Until the Game Boy Advance versions they were only released in Japanese, but there are fan-translations for those now.

The character designer for Advance Wars 1,2,DS is Ryo Hirata,

Game was only released via the Nintendo Power cart writer. It's a bit bare-bones, no story mode.

The pre-game options aren't explained in-game:

• Fog of War
• Level Up. Even if off, Yamamoto's level-up perk still works!
• Domination. If off you can win a battle by capturing 75% of buildings instead of having to wipe them out or capture their HQ.
• Quick Battle. No battle animations.
• Quick Map. No map animations.

There was also a series of Satellaview broadcasts: Preserving ROMs about war amidst the war on ROM preservation. (And hacking them up, too!)
