Bergsala Lightweight

Bersala Lightweight1) is most widely known for their two samurai-based videogame series Bushido Blade, and Kengo.

These series both feature somewhat realistic combat, in that a single, well placed strike, can be enough to end a match. The first Bushido Blade, in particular, takes a realistic (in its sense of adhering to Samurai film tropes) approach: life-bars are absent (they can be disabled in the Kengo games), areas are huge, limbs can be disabled, and the Bushido code must be followed.
The Kengo series adds character development mechanics. Where the player takes a customised character through a story mode, learning techniques and stances, buying weapons and clothing, and earning money in tournaments, by fullfilling bounties, and so on.

Interestingly, Bergsala was the company that first distributed nintendo hardware (Game & Watch) in Europe: The Lie That Helped Build Nintendo
