We have a big loquat tree in the backyard. When we first moved in it was being strangled by some wire, but it seems happy now.

Things to do with loquats:

• Loquat cordial - Makes a nice, light cordial.
• Loquat juice - Pretty thick, but nice with blitzed ice and gin.
• Lojack / loquat grappa - Loquat flavoured alcohol. Has a cherry taste.
• Apparently you can make tea with young, de-furred leaves, but I've never tried.
• People make wine, but I can't be arsed. When I'm in the mood to faff like that I'd rather do ginger beer, or something similar.
