ACMI, The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, is mostly a cinema, library, and exhibition space dedicated to screen stuff.

They play good films, the Melbourne Cinémathèque film club thing shows their movies there too, they have film projectors, the big cinema is nice.

NB:

• Never see silent movies here. They always botch the sound somehow.
• Avoid Cinema 2 if you can, the sound's a bit worse in there.
