Not-too-badly-priced synth for Wavetable stuff. There's a version with a keyboard (and a few extra things), and you can pay to unlock the ability to use samples as well as the existing wavetables—but wait for a sale. Other options for the same budget are probably just older Korg rack stuff.

Updates are pretty Linux-friendly, you just need to send some data over SysEx.

There's a .reabank (Reaper format instrument definition: Waldorf Blofeld Desktop.reabank for selecting banks. No CC info. though.
