Arturia Matrixbrute

Guide

I'm still learning a lot about synths, and here're some notes on Matrixbrute things (that are probably obvious to people more experienced).

Instrument input

The Matrixbrute can use an instrument as input, effectively using that as an oscillator, which you can then apply filters to. To do so:

  1. Plug the cord straight from the instrument (for example a guitar) into the 'Audio Input' port on top.
  2. Switch 'Input Type' that's next to it to 'Inst.'
  3. Pop-out the 'Input Gain' knob next to that and turn it (counter-clockwise) all the way up.
  4. Switch 'Audio Gate' to 'Off' (todo: try it set to 'On'!)
  5. Now on the front, in the 'Mixer' section make sure the bottom 'External' knob is turned up, and that the filter is on.
  6. In the 'Play Control' section between the wheels and the keyboard press 'Key Hold'. The sound will not happen unless a key is held (audio gate might change this?), so turning on 'Key Hold' and pressing a key is an easy way to have it on constantly. If you don't want that skip this step!
  7. Mess with the filters to make it sound interesting!
