If you're annoyed by the Google assistant you've already turned off nagging you to turn it back on you can fix that by:

1. Going into settings
2. Go to 'Apps'
3. 'Default apps'
4. 'Digital assistant app'
5. Then press 'Default digital assistant app (but not the cog icon next to it),
6. And set it to 'none'
7. Sigh with relief.

To turn off the reply suggestions that appear when you get a notification for a message:

1. Go to settings
2. Privacy
3. Android System Intelligence
4. Keyboard
5. Then toggle that pish off.
