Not-//too//-badly-priced synth for Wavetable stuff. There's a version with a keyboard (and a few extra things), and you can pay to unlock the ability to use samples as well as the existing wavetables---but wait for a sale. Other options for the same budget are probably just older Korg rack stuff.

Updates are pretty [[Linux]]-friendly, you just need to send some data over [[MIDI#SysEx|SysEx]].

There's a .reabank ([[Reaper]] format instrument definition: [[https://stash.reaper.fm/v/30333/Waldorf%20Blofeld%20Desktop.reabank|Waldorf Blofeld Desktop.reabank]] for selecting banks. No CC info. though.
