====== Dat ====== I still have a lot to learn about **Dat**, but it's pretty interesting. It's a P2P protocol that you interact with in two main ways: either by using the (git-like) CLI or GUI tools to grab and manage files or collections of files, or via the GUI, webbrowser-like, Beaker Browser. Beaker opens up a really different way to use the network, where you get a web-like experience of browsing documents (HTML, etc.) and sharing and hosting them. It places creation and viewing on the same level. Another, non-generalised client for the Dat network is ScienceFair, which focuses of reading and finding science academic material, and has a really cool reader that connects relevant figures and references. Would love to see a version for fields outside of science ... ... ===== Interesting Dat Things ===== * Distributed Web of Care: dat://distributedweb.care/ | Homepage | github>tchoi8/distributedwebofcare * Dat Zine Library: dat://dat-zine-library.hashbase.io/ | Homepage | gitlab>zachmandeville/dat-zine-library ===== See Also ===== * datproject.org * awesome.datproject.org - Lots of Dat-related links. * github>mafintosh/hypervision - Watch and broadcast live video streams. * github>louiscenter/hypercast - `` but uses tool:software:Beaker. * github>beakerbrowser/dat-photos-app * aur>dat AUR package. * github>garbados/dat-gateway - Access Dat stuff in any browser. * github>sammacbeth/dat-fox - Dat firefox extension. * aur>dat-fox-helper-git - AUR package for required dat-fox-helper. * ffaddon>dat-p2p-protocol
