====== Arturia Matrixbrute ====== ===== Guide ===== I'm still learning a lot about synths, and here're some notes on Matrixbrute things (that are probably obvious to people more experienced). ==== Instrument input ==== The Matrixbrute can use an instrument as input, effectively using that as an oscillator, which you can then apply filters to. To do so: - Plug the cord straight from the instrument (for example a guitar) into the 'Audio Input' port on top. - Switch 'Input Type' that's next to it to 'Inst.' - Pop-out the 'Input Gain' knob next to that and turn it (counter-clockwise) all the way up. - Switch 'Audio Gate' to 'Off' (todo: try it set to 'On'!) - Now on the front, in the 'Mixer' section make sure the bottom 'External' knob is turned up, and that the filter is on. - In the 'Play Control' section between the wheels and the keyboard press 'Key Hold'. The sound will not happen unless a key is held (audio gate might change this?), so turning on 'Key Hold' and pressing a key is an easy way to have it on constantly. If you don't want that skip this step! - Mess with the filters to make it sound interesting! Found this thread with some more detail: https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=90942.0 This guy shows and explains how to do it really clearly, includes lots of mod matrix uee: * Matrix Monday with the Arturia Matrixbrute- Episode 9: The Heaviest Guitar Pedal I Own * Matrix Monday with the Arturia Matrixbrute- Episode 10: Drum Processing ==== Sequencer ==== The sequencer (and the related arpeggiator) on this thing are amazing. It runs well enough that I can change settings and send and receive patches ((once I remembered to turn the memory protection switch off...)) in Wine, but have had no luck updating the firmware. A bit frustrating, because firmware version 2 would allow me to change more settings without having to connect it to my PC. ==== See Also ==== * MatrixBrute: Tutorials playlist on Arturia's Youtube channel. * The Arturia MatrixBrute- Part 1-Oscillators - They're not put into a playlist, but this series is useful. * Matrix Monday * https://www.luftrum.com/arturia-matrixbrute-patches/ Luftrum 27 - Patches for MatrixBrute
