I'm experimenting with using DLNA to stream music and movies off a hard disk plugged into a router, rather than using a NAS setup with MPD, Kodi, etc. So far, for music at least, it seems to be good.
It seems very unfussy with playlists! On the disk there's a directory called 'Music', and in there are ones for artists names, and one called 'playlists'. The paths in the playlists work with relative paths (../[artistname]/[albumname]/[filename]), absolute paths (/Music/[artistname]/[albumname]/[filename]), and even the same paths that are in my existing MPD playlists ([artistname]/[albumname]/[filename]).
